exofamily is the name given by designer laurent massaloux to this series of lamps, we are used to perceive structure has something internal, this object does exactly the opposite, the structure is the external element, it’s kind of a paradox but it doesn’t limit or constrain the object it actually increases the possibilities of use.

rita botelho is a young portuguese product designer, barely out of college but clearly with something to say, she has now followed the example set by pedro & rita (pedrita) and joined the fabrica design team in treviso. teamdustrial wishes her all the best!

“portuguese dynamic design duo” pedrita seem determined to continue expanding their design work in all directions.
i believe this happens because they choose to but also because that’s the only way they can continue to be live & kicking in a market that has barely given them any thought.
their method is a clear example of what we in college used to call the mackgyver approach that every portuguese product designer must have, a do more with less kinda thing.
their latest project “Fabrico Próprio” assumes itself has the “design of portuguese semi-industrial confectionery”, it made me smile:D
it reminded me what Giulio Cappellini said about young british designers in the nineties, they had no great figures to look back at so they were able to do things completely new (of course if there was a figure it would be Daciano).

“POLPO” is a sucker-like shower head that doesn’t need any hangers. You can feel free to put it anywhere on flat surfaces. It’s made from soft material, so it doesn’t damage anything when you drop it.
